“Father’s Day” by Douglas A. Cox
If
I am kinder now than most
And am a gentle soul
If I find the best in folks
And reach for lofty goals
Then
I have the man to thank
The one I recognize
Who had the courage in his heart
And kindness in his eyes
He
Came to live at my house
He came to be my friend
His love will last forever
His gifts will never end
For all of the men who became fathers, stepfathers, adoptive fathers, and heroes
whose time, patience and affection have helped to shape our lives.
Happy Father’s Day
